Corbett Adventure Tour
The Corbett National Park is first national park of India established
in the year 1936. it was named Hailey National Park. in 1957 ,the park
was rechristned as the Corbett National Park in the memory of Late Jim Corbett
great naturalist, eminent conservationist. It is 118 Kms. from Nainital
via Kaladhungi & Ramnagar.
The Corbett national park covering an area of 521 Sq. Kms. is situated
at the foothills of the Himalayas. It spreads over parts of two districts
, a major part of park with an area of 312.86 sq. Kms. falls in Pauri
Garhwal district and the balance 208.14 sq. Kms. in Nainital district
. The park occupies portions of Kalagarh and Ramnagar forest divisions
.It falls within the trek of land known as Paltidun The park embraces
the picturesque broad flat valley consisting of vast Savannah and surrounded
by hills drained by small rivers .Savannah woodland ,bamboo brakes dry
deciduous forests and Sissu-Khair forests provide as variety of vegetation
and consequently habitats for different species of wild life.
The Ramganga river meandering its way through the park with some deep
pools and foaming rapids forms the main water source.Good size patches
of thick elephant grass growing along the river banks and moist localities
provide ideal shelter to the tiger. The forests in the park mainly consists
of Shisham,Sal & Chir.
The park is rich in wild life such as elephant ,tiger ,panther ,bear
,dear ,pig,jungle cats, porcupine ,hyena ,and jackal. Amongst the birds
are the pea fowl,the jungle fowl ,grey and black partridge,pigeons,quails
,kingfisher ,kite ,lark and the woodpecker. The Ramganga is full of mahaseer
fishes.
Amongst the reptiles are python,crocodile and many species of lizards
and snakes. Tigers are fairly well distributed over the park and inhabit
the large number of nalas , ravines and open glades The natural food of
the tiger consists of Sambhar,Chital ,Kakar ,Para and wild boar is found
in plenty all over the reserve .Sloth bears are confined mainly to hilly
area. Several elephants live in the park ,but they keep moving to the
adjoining forests in search of food.

Welcome to Vardhman's 'Corbett Adventure Tour'!
On arrival in Delhi, you will be met and directly drive to Corbett by Vardhman's
representative. On the way stop at Ramnagar and look for the fabulous IBISBILL
amongst the riverside boulders.
Check into your hotel upon arrival. Rest of the day at leisure.
Jim Corbett National Park used to be just another Himalayan forest until
in 1936 it was demarcated as a reserve area by the British Government. Jim
Corbett Park is spread over 520 sq kms and is covered with huge stretches
of Savannah type grasslands and Sal forests. In 1957 this place was renamed
as Jim Corbett National Park from Hailey national Park. It was declared
as an almost exclusive Tiger Reserve on 1st April 1973 with the help of
World Wildlife Fund. Since the place is situated on the lower Himalayan
belt of vegetation, it is an eco-tourism spot too.

Day 02: Corbet National Park
Take up a early morning Elephant safari through the open Chaurs (grasslands)
and dense forests by an unconventional route. Elephant safari is the best
option for wildlife viewing in the Corbet National Park. Return back to
the complex for breakfast and then again drive by jeep to the scenic lake
area to catch the sight of Marsh crocodile basking in the sun. Visit the
Jhirnajhali area for viewing the famous Gharial - the fish eating crocodile.
Return for lunch and some rest or opt for spending the afternoon on a watchtower
overlooking a water hole. Jeep safari on a track along the periphery of
the core area. Take this exciting drive through the unforgettable and breathtaking
Khinanauli range to catch some best wildlife sights and Tigers in Jim Corbet
Park.

Day 03: Corbet National Park
Drive back to the campsite after breakfast. Have lunch after arriving
at the camp. Take an afternoon jeep safari to Bijrani for tiger tracking.

Day 04: Corbett National Park / Delhi / Agra / Nainital / Onward Destination
Drive towards Bhuvankhal early in the morning to witness the beautiful
sunrise and the snow clad peaks of the central Himalayas. Return back
to the hotel/Camp for lunch (at your own cost). Then drive back to Delhi
International airport/railway station to catch flight/train for your onward
destination to back home with sweet and unforgettable memories of your
'Corbett Adventure Tour' tour escorted by Vardhman Vacations.
