Jeep Safari Adventure in Uttaranchal
The Himalayan regions of the State of 'Uttaranchal', bordering with China
in the north and Nepal in the west. The entire region is rich with natural
diversity - from dense tropical & alpine forests, rivers and lakes to
extremely high mountain ranges. Much of the region still does not feature
on the worlds 'tourist map', making it an ideal destination for the ones
bitten by the 'explorers bug' ! For a motorbike enthusiast, this is a dream
destination, offering you dirt trails through thick jungles, treacherous
mountain roads, and all the natural beauty one can dream of !

Day 1: Delhi

Arrive into Delhi
Welcome to Vardhman's "Jeep Safari Adventure in Uttaranchal"!
On arrival in Delhi, you will be met and transferred by Vardhman's representative
to your hotel. Relax for a while and then

Day 2: Delhi - Nainital
On the day 2 of your tour proceed to visit the City.
Visit Qutab Minar, Humayun's tomb, Lakshminarayan Temple, a modern Hindu
Temple, Parliament House, Government Secretarial Building and Connaught
place, the shopping centre of New Delhi.
Visit Red Fort, built in 1648 by Mughal Emperor Shahjehan, Jama Masjid,
one of the largest Mosque of India, Raj Ghat and Shanti Vana, the cremation
sites of Mahatama Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru. Also drive past Chandni
Chowk, shopping centre of Old Delhi.
Later in the evening transfer to Delhi railway station to catch overnight
train to Nainital.

Day 3: Kathgodam-Nanital -Pangot
Arrive Kathgodam railway station and you will be met and transferred directly
to the railhead for Nainital and a subsequent drive to Pango will take
two hours. The tourists and fellow travelers can spend the rest of the
day at their own comfort and visit Kilbury and Pangot for lonesome, solitary
ambling down the nature tracks, to be followed by an overnight stay at
the local lodge.
Pangot is small village 15 kilometers from Nainital, the drive takes only
25 minutes to get there. The entire drive is through the forested area
of Cheena Peak Range via Snow View Point and Kilbury, the main habitats
for excellent birding.
One can see a variety of Himalayan species along the way such as lammergeier,
Himalayan griffon, blue-winged minla, spotted & slaty-backed forktail,
rufous-bellied woodpecker, rufous-bellied niltava, khalij pheasant, variety
of thrushes etc. Almost 150 bird species have been recorded at Pangot
and surrounding areas.The numerous perennial & seasonal creeks are
home to an amazing variety of flora and fauna including the leopard, yellow-throated
Himalayan martins, Himalayan palm civet, ghoral, barking deer, sambhar
etc.

Day 4: Pangot-Nainital
The fourth day is initiated by taking a day long whistle stop tour of
Nainital. One can also choose the interesting exercise of ornithology,
capped by a beatific boat-ride in the beautiful Naini lake or accomplish
the feat of amateur horse riding along the banks of the placidly moving
lake. Then one can climb up to the China Peak or opt for a joy ride in
the exciting option of the cable car.
Naini Lake : Naini Lake or Naini Taal, the picturesque blue green lake.
It is from this lake that the city of Nainital, the beautiful settlement
by the lake, derives its name. Naini Lake is so called because of its
eye-like shape.
Naina Peak : Known as the China peak this peak is the highest point in
Nainital. From here Nainital appears as a bowl. You can walk or take ponies
to the peak. From this peak you can capture the exciting views of Nainital.
Naina peak also gives a good view of the Camelback peak.

Day 5: Nanital-Binsar
A travel tour to Binsar is home to endless and golden opportunity for
professional ornithologists and wildlife photographers to catch the mythical
call of the wild within their lenses and logbooks. One can end the day
with an overnight stay in the Binsar tourist rest house or at the designated
wildlife lodge.

Day 6: Binsar-Munsiyari
The morning of day 6 begins with a drive from Binsar to Munsiyari, which
consumes up 6 hours of the day's tour. Upon arrival, check into your hotel
for an overnight stay.
Munsiyari: The name 'Munsiyari' means a 'place with snow'. Munsiyari is
a tehsil and a town located in Kumaon Himalayas in Pithoragarh district
within the hill state of Uttarakhand in India. Located at an altitude
of 2, 200 meters above the sea level amidst snow capped Kumaon Himalayas;
Munsiyari is relatively a new discovery, now in the list of some of the
most beautiful hill stations in India. The strange and naturally endowed
hamlet of Munsiyari commands spectacular views of the Panchchuli peaks,
the Milam and the exotic Ralam valleys.

Day 7: Munsiyari
Day 7 begins with a trek towards the Khaliya top, which is perched comfortably
at a height of 11,500 ft. This beautiful height is home to a breathtaking
view of the high and lonesome Panch-Chulli peaks. The night is spent in
the Alpine tents. People inclined to take their chances at angling and
fishing, can catch the very Indian trout at the Ramganga and Gori Ganga
rivers or go on a trek to the Lilam Village. The trek is part of the Milam
Glacier route along the banks of Gori Ganga.

Day 8: Munsiyari-Kausani
This morning after breakfast drive to Kausani across narrow roads strewn
with small and faceless villages.
It is located at an altitude of approximately 1890 meters above the sea
level and is basically known for its scenic splendor and historical links.
This picturesque hill top offers a spectacular 300-km panoramic view of
the majestic Himalayas. The calmness and serenity in the atmosphere of
Kausani is charismatic enough to keep you mesmerized for hours. Due to
its similarity with the landscape of Switzerland, Mahatma Gandhi gave
Kausani the name of The Switzerland of India.

Day 9: Kausani
City tour of Kausani.
There are various interesting places worth visiting in and around Kausani.
Visit Anashakti Ashram, Pant Museum, Lakshmi Ashram and Tea Gardens. The
birthplace of great poet Sumitra Nandan and the land of Gandhi's experiments
with Anashakti Yog, Kausani indeed has an intellectual aura about it.
Its tea gardens are known for producing special organic orthodox, while
its environs are acclaimed for offering un-spoiled beauty.

Day 10: Kausani-Corbett National Park
Tourists leave Kausani to reach the legendary Corbett National Park after
a drive of 4 1/2 hours.
Jim Corbett National Park used to be just another Himalayan forest until
in 1936 it was demarcated as a reserve area by the British Government.
Jim Corbett Park is spread over 520 sq kms and is covered with huge stretches
of Savannah type grasslands and Sal forests. In 1957 this place was renamed
as Jim Corbett National Park from Hailey national Park. It was declared
as an almost exclusive Tiger Reserve on 1st April 1973 with the help of
World Wildlife Fund. Since the place is situated on the lower Himalayan
belt of vegetation, it is an eco-tourism spot too.

Day 11: Kausani-Corbett National Park
Take up a early morning Elephant safari through the open Chaurs (grasslands)
and dense forests by an unconventional route. Elephant safari is the best
option for wildlife viewing in the Corbet National Park. Return back to
the complex for breakfast and then again drive by jeep to the scenic lake
area to catch the sight of Marsh crocodile basking in the sun. Visit the
Jhirnajhali area for viewing the famous Gharial - the fish eating crocodile.
Return for lunch and some rest or opt for spending the afternoon on a
watchtower overlooking a water hole. Jeep safari on a track along the
periphery of the core area. Take this exciting drive through the unforgettable
and breathtaking Khinanauli range to catch some best wildlife sights and
Tigers in Jim Corbet Park.

Day 12: Corbett National Park-Delhi
Drive towards Bhuvankhal early in the morning to witness the beautiful
sunrise and the snow clad peaks of the central Himalayas. Return back
to the hotel/Camp for lunch (at your own cost). Then drive back to Delhi
airport/railway station to catch flight/train for your onward destination
to back home with sweet and unforgettable memories of your "Jeep
